Class Description
This course is a 4-hour workshop that explores the peculiar hazards of respirable crystalline silica (RCS). The definition of silica, its properties, and the dangers it presents are all described. The particular health hazards are also presented along with ways in which UBC members can protect their health and the health of their families and loved ones. The various ways of controlling exposure, the responsibilities of employers, and the standards and regulations applied by various governmental agencies are also discussed. (Satisfies 4 hours of the 12 hour CSL renewal requirement)
Required Equipment
Members attending training must provide their own safety shoes, safety goggles, gloves, ear protection and hard hats. Failure to provide your own safety equipment may result in your being dropped from a particular training session.
Attendance Requirements
Attendance at the first training session is mandatory. 100% attendance is required for all courses that issue Certificates or Qualifications and Apprentice mandatory training. Please be on time! Late arrivals (and early departures) are disruptive to instructors and participants. Poor attendance / disruptive behavior will result in your being dropped from a particular training session.
